I have been asked for community input regarding the house at the SW corner of 1st Avenue and Grant Road. It is the house with the blue windows that have been broken and boarded up. It is currently owned the by City of Tucson.
The question: ARE THERE ANY OBJECTIONS TO HAVING THE CITY DEMOLISH THE STRUCTURE?
Please let me know so I can tally the votes. Email Tori: elcortez [at] gmail [dot] com or use our contact form.

Grant from the Neighborhood Reinvestment Committee
This grant award will put shading over the two children’s playgrounds at the Northwest Neighborhood Center.
Federal Weed & Seed Grant
I have also been asked to participate in an exploratory committee in our area to apply for a Federal Weed & Seed grant. Weed & Seed is foremost a strategy—rather than a grant program—that aims to prevent, control, and reduce violent crime, drug abuse, and gang activity in designated high-crime neighborhoods across the country. I have been tasked with identifying social issues & needs in our neighborhood. Tucson Police Department for Operations West is compiling the crime statistics necessary.
I would welcome any comments, thoughts, or concerns you might have. Having community participation in this process is a major component. Participation is loosely defined. Your enrollment in the neighborhood email tree can be your commitment.
If at all possible, I would like your responses by April 1st. I apologize for such short notice. Health concerns delayed my sending of this information to you.
Thank you for your assistance.
