Our summer quarterly meeting took place yesterday, with 12 residents and
two city/county officers. Ward 3 (Kevin Dahl) was represented by
Communications Manager Arnie Bermudez, and Pima County District 5 (Andres Cano)
was represented by Chief of Staff Montserrat Caballero. (Supervisor Cano may
attend in person for the next meeting.)

Highlights:

   	* We received a Tucson Clean & Beautiful mini-grant award to construct stormwater collection and greenery chicanes at the south end of 3rd Ave. Construction on this project will begin next week.
    	* Paving of our streets is still supposed to happen this year, exact date unknown.
   	* Unusual activity of mice has been seen on Flores, but it may relate to Michael's house that was cleaned up.
    	* Pima Animal Care has resolved a distemper outbreak and has 100 dogs beyond capacity, that need to be adopted or fostered.
    	* The new Elias library is open at 12th/Ajo, which will provide a preview of the work to be completed at Himmel library
    	* Tori recommends to always call Pima County Sewer in July at 724-6609 and request a rate review to get the lowest rate
    	* City and County pools are free for the summer
    	* If you want to host a Little Library, Pima County has some assistance available for that, and also Friends of the Library can provide initial books

Additionally:

Jacob reported that we did not win an applied-for Safe Streets minigrant for 2nd ave, but will apply again.

Arnie note that the Ward 3 website now hosts a calendar page for all the Neighborhood Association meetings in the area. It also has an extensive listing of other events. These are also mailed out in their weekly newsletter, which is a good thing to sign up for.

Montserrat reported that the Pima County budget has passed for the new fiscal year, and does not have large cuts, but such may be coming as an effect of Federal rules changes. She also noted that District 5 has an ongoing literacy program "Love of Lectura", which is hosting presentations by well known authors.

Martha noted that a streetlight remains out at 3rd/Seneca, likely not due to wire theft this time.

Thanks to all who attended and Please join us for the next meeting to be held October 8, 6 PM, at the Liggins Center!
